Which Buffalo Slot Pays More? Compare RTP and Rules

How to Choose a Buffalo Slot by RTP, Risk, and Bonuses

Contents

There is no verified universal payout winner among Aristocrat Buffalo slots. Compare the theoretical return to player (RTP) of the exact configuration, then consider risk and bonus preferences separately. Buffalo-themed games from other providers are different games—not interchangeable Aristocrat versions.

Which Buffalo games are you comparing?

Start with the exact title and provider: original Buffalo, Gold Collection, Gold Revolution, and Link are not one configuration with a shared RTP.

GameProviderWhat matters for comparisonRTP evidence
Original BuffaloAristocratRules for the specific versionNo universal RTP verified
Buffalo Gold CollectionAristocratCollection-related changesExact RTP unknown from the inspected public provider page
Buffalo Gold RevolutionAristocratWheel mechanicExact RTP unknown from the inspected public provider page
Buffalo LinkAristocratHold & Spin and a 1,800-symbol collection meterExact RTP unknown from the inspected public provider page

The official pages for Gold Collection, Gold Revolution, and Link describe these mechanics for specific US versions. They do not replace an exact RTP settings sheet. A missing percentage on those pages does not mean it is unavailable everywhere.

An online game and a cabinet game with the same name are not automatically interchangeable. Match the title, provider, version, and settings before comparing them.

Buffalo King and Buffalo King Megaways are Pragmatic Play games; Buffalo Blitz is a Playtech game. The official Buffalo King Megaways page confirms its provider identity. Compare them as separate games, but do not transfer their percentages to Aristocrat Buffalo.

What does “pays more” actually mean?

“Pays more” can refer to four different measures, and none alone proves a higher chance of session profit.

MeasureWhat it tells youWhat it does not prove
Theoretical RTPThe share of turnover returned on average over the long run under the game's mathematicsWhat you will receive in one session
Hit frequencyThe proportion of spins with any returnThe proportion of profitable spins: a return can be smaller than the stake
Maximum winThe largest payout or maximum win multiplier allowed by the rulesHow often it occurs or how high RTP is
VolatilityHow widely outcomes can varyAverage return or hit frequency

More bonus mechanics do not prove lower RTP or guarantee higher volatility. Gold and original Buffalo cannot be ranked by stories about which bonus appeared more often or which machine once paid more.

For more detail, see RTP versus volatility.

How does theoretical RTP differ from observed return?

Theoretical RTP describes mathematical expectation; actual observed return is payouts divided by turnover over a particular period.

The UK Gambling Commission's definition calculates actual RTP as wins divided by turnover. Multiply that ratio by 100 to express it as a percentage.

This is a UKGC regulator definition, not Buffalo rules or certification; the source was last updated 2021-01-25. Observed return can differ from theoretical RTP, with short-run results affected by volatility and play volume.

Keep three kinds of evidence separate: a published figure, the documented theoretical RTP of a configuration, and actual observed return. A number in a catalog or archived lobby is a published figure. It is not automatically proof of current game settings or a measurement of real payouts.

On the same total-wager basis, house edge equals 100% minus RTP. That relationship does not guarantee a particular session loss.

Where can you check the exact configuration?

The strongest source is the game's own help or rules for the configuration you are considering. If those do not provide the information, look for version-specific documentation from the provider or operator.

  1. Open the available information, help, or paytable control. Labels may include i, Info, Help, or Paytable; menus differ. Do not make paid spins just to check the rules.
  2. Record the full game title, provider, and version or build number if shown.
  3. Record the total bet, denomination, RTP, jurisdiction, and date checked.
  4. Check jackpot eligibility, including any separate wager or qualifying threshold.
  5. If RTP is absent, ask support for the exact version's settings. Without confirmation, leave it unknown and do not assign it a payout ranking.

Use this evidence hierarchy: exact configuration's rules → versioned provider or operator source → catalog reference → player anecdotes.

Do not apply a generic 94.85% or 96% to every Buffalo game. Missing RTP means unknown, not zero. No deposit is needed to check public material, and a demo elsewhere does not establish the current operator's settings.

Does maximum bet or denomination improve RTP?

A larger bet or denomination does not itself prove higher RTP. Check the full cost per spin and jackpot eligibility first.

For example, 100 credits at a $0.01 denomination cost $1; 100 credits at $0.05 cost $5. That is five times the spending, not proof of better nominal RTP.

If a bonus or jackpot requires particular wager conditions, compare the configurations using those conditions and the full total bet. See the slot denomination guide for more on this distinction.

What do the retained archive records show?

The archive shows differences in published figures on specific dates, not a current Buffalo ranking or operator recommendation.

The scoped recheck for 2026-08-12–23 covered 560 retained snapshots, 7,469 name-matched Buffalo rows, and 57 operator identifiers, eight of which had at least one published RTP figure. Repeated captures and duplicate rows are not independent tests or tested spins.

One example is Casumo's archived Buffalo Blitz labels on 2026-08-23: 92.51% for UK and 95.96% for ES, a difference of 3.45 percentage points. The records used the same game identifier, with the market parameter and confirmed market retained. This is still not an audit of the game's mathematics or evidence of today's availability or settings.

The chart below contains historical Diamond Link Mighty Buffalo labels from 2026-08-21–23. DK, FI, and DE identify archive storefront labels—not proven regulator-approved configurations.

drueckglueck (DE)86%
playojo (DE)86%

Historical labels from 2026-08-21–23, not a current ranking. Market confirmation was unavailable for some records because the source lacked a separate market axis. A national domain or storefront label does not establish a regulatory configuration or explain the difference.

See the archive methodology and RTP editions by country for the scope and interpretation of these records.

How should you use the RTP catalog?

Use the catalog to find reference values and distinguish titles, not to identify an operator's active settings.

Open the RTP catalog, search for Buffalo King, and compare the provider plus the named game. The local catalog capture shows:

GameReference RTPVariants columnRangeVolatility
Buffalo King96.06%1BlankBlank
Buffalo King Megaways96.52%1BlankBlank
Buffalo King Untamed Megaways96.02%1BlankBlank

Local English RTP catalog capture showing Buffalo King reference values, not evidence of a current operator's configuration

Local capture of the English catalog. These percentages are reference values, not a live cabinet check or a universal Buffalo ranking.

Open the game detail and source link if available, then check the value's scope. A blank range and a variants value of 1 do not prove that alternative settings do not exist.

These entries also do not complete the original Aristocrat Buffalo comparison. King Megaways cannot be declared the “best Buffalo” merely because it has the highest reference figure among these three rows.

How can you compare expected loss in the calculator?

At equal turnover, a higher entered RTP produces lower expected loss, but the calculation is conditional and does not predict your session.

Use 500 paid spins at a total stake of $1 per spin, giving $500 turnover.

  • Turnover = paid spins × total stake per spin.
  • Expected loss = turnover × (1 − RTP / 100).
  • Expected return = turnover × RTP / 100.
Entered RTPTurnoverExpected lossExpected return
94%$500$30$470
86%$500$70$430

The expected-loss difference is $40. These are theoretical values conditional on the entered RTP, with no additional fees or external bonuses. The amounts are exact and need no rounding. They are neither session forecasts nor hourly figures.

To reproduce the calculation:

  1. Open the calculator preset for 94%, $1, and 500 spins.
  2. If entering the values manually, set RTP to 94 and stake to 1.
  3. Select By spins and enter 500.

Local calculator interface with the example inputs: 94% RTP, $1 per spin, and 500 paid spins.

  1. Check the result for the selected 500 spins: expected loss is $30.
  2. Move the RTP slider to 86, keeping stake at 1 and spins at 500. Compare the $70 expected loss with the previous $30.

Local calculator result for 94% RTP showing thirty dollars expected loss over 500 spins; the hourly figure uses a different play volume

Local results interface. The displayed $36 per hour uses the default pace of 600 spins per hour; it is not the $30 expected loss for the selected 500 spins or a forecast of actual loss.

Halving the stake to $0.50 gives $250 turnover over the same 500 spins. Expected loss becomes $15 at 94% and $35 at 86%. Lowering the stake reduces monetary exposure; it does not improve RTP.

A deposit is not turnover: wagering returned winnings counts again toward total wagered. The fixed 500 spins are an example, not a recommended play volume or a guarantee that your bankroll will fund that duration.

The calculator does not find the exact active configuration, hit chance, bonus probability, a safe bankroll, or profit odds.

The official Buffalo Link description says a free feature is awarded before the Buffalo Collected Meter reaches 1,800 collected symbols—not 1,800 spins or a guaranteed amount of money.

The Aristocrat page uses the labels Buffalo Collected Meter and Hold & Spin.

Persistent meter state may affect the conditional value of further play. Do not assume the same house edge at every meter state or universally independent, identical spins regardless of accumulated progress.

That does not establish a profitable threshold. Without the outcome distribution and costs, no such threshold is quantified here. A promised free feature is not a promise of net profit.

How should you make the final choice?

Choose using documented configuration details and an affordable spending cap, not the Buffalo name or someone else's large win.

Before playing, check:

  • Game identity: exact title, provider, and version.
  • Documented RTP: compare at the same total stake and under comparable conditions.
  • Risk and bonuses: consider verified volatility separately from your mechanic preferences.
  • Jackpot eligibility: confirm whether your selected wager qualifies.
  • Spending cap: set an amount you can afford to lose; expectation is not a guarantee.
  • Missing evidence: unknown remains unknown.

For a separate discussion of playing approach, see the Buffalo strategy guide. Neither choosing a version nor using a calculator guarantees a win.

Frequently Asked Questions

Player comments can help you understand which bonus features people enjoy, but they do not prove higher RTP. Compare documented settings for the exact configuration rather than individual win stories.

Ask support for the RTP of the exact game, version, and settings. Without confirmation, treat it as unknown—not zero, and not a reason to substitute another version's percentage.

No. A demo elsewhere does not confirm the current operator's configuration. Match the title, provider, version, and documented settings.

No. Jackpot size or maximum win does not determine theoretical RTP or show your probability of making a session profit.
